Stay With Us
The Mother of the Good Shepherd Monastery in DeLand welcomes guests for overnight stays when space and the life of the community permit.
A stay at the monastery is an opportunity to step away from the pace of daily life and spend time in a peaceful setting shaped by prayer, simplicity, hospitality, and respect for the rhythm of the monastic community.
Because we are a small monastery and availability varies, all stays should be arranged in advance.
Who May Stay?
Guest accommodations may be available for people coming to the monastery for purposes such as:
- Retreat, prayer, or spiritual renewal
- Monastery events and special gatherings
- Visits connected with the community or its ministries
- Vocational discernment
- Approved personal stays
- Other visits arranged directly with the monastery
Availability, length of stay, and accommodations depend on the circumstances of each request and the needs of the community.
What to Expect
The monastery is first and foremost a home of prayer and common life.
Guests should expect a peaceful and simple environment rather than the services of a hotel or commercial retreat center.
During a stay, we ask visitors to respect:
- The prayerful atmosphere of the monastery
- The privacy of the monastic community
- Areas of the property that are not open to guests
- Quiet hours and any instructions provided by the community
- The monastery grounds and guest accommodations
- Other guests who may also be seeking prayer and rest
Specific information about your accommodation and stay will be provided when your visit is confirmed.
Prayer and the Life of the Monastery
Guests may have opportunities to share in the prayerful atmosphere of the monastery during their stay.
Because schedules can change and some parts of monastic life are private, guests should not assume that every prayer service, meal, or community activity is open to visitors.
If you hope to participate in prayer with the community, please ask when arranging your stay.
Guest Accommodations
The monastery has accommodations that may be used for approved guests and visitors.
The type of accommodation available may vary according to the date, the number of guests, monastery events, and other needs of the community.
Before making travel plans, please contact us to confirm:
- Availability
- Arrival and departure arrangements
- The type of accommodation available
- Any applicable contribution or lodging cost
- What is included with your stay
- Any special instructions for guests
Public Accommodation Listings
From time to time, certain accommodations connected with the monastery may also be offered through public lodging platforms such as Airbnb.
These listings are separate from stays arranged directly with the monastic community.
If you are coming specifically for prayer, a monastery event, spiritual reasons, vocational discernment, or another visit connected with the community, we recommend contacting the monastery directly first.
