Our Monastery

The Servants of God of St. Augustine make their home at the Mother of the Good Shepherd Monastery in DeLand, Florida. Set on approximately eleven acres in the Glenwood area, the monastery is a place where our community seeks God through prayer, common life, work, hospitality, and service.

Since establishing our home in DeLand in 2004, we have continued to develop the property as a peaceful setting for monastic life and as a place where guests, pilgrims, friends, and benefactors may encounter an atmosphere of prayer and Augustinian hospitality.

A Home for Prayer and Community

The monastery is first and foremost the home of our religious community.

Here, the brothers gather for the Holy Eucharist, the Liturgy of the Hours, Sacred Scripture, Lectio Divina, personal prayer, meals, work, and fraternity. The rhythm of the monastery reflects our desire to allow every part of daily life to become part of our common search for God.

The quiet character of the property also provides space for reflection, conversation, spiritual accompaniment, and the simple moments of community life that help form our vocation.

"One mind and one heart intent upon God."

Mother of the Good Shepherd

Our monastery is dedicated to the Mother of God under the title Mother of the Good Shepherd.

We entrust our community, our vocation, our benefactors, and all those who ask for our prayers to her maternal care and intercession. This dedication reminds us that the monastery is not merely a place to live, but a home consecrated to God and placed under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Monastery Grounds

The monastery property continues to be developed and cared for so that it can better serve the needs of the community and those who visit us.

Chapel and Prayer Spaces

Prayer remains at the center of the monastery. Our chapel and other prayer spaces provide places for the celebration of the liturgy, personal prayer, devotion, and intercession.

The community continues working toward the long-term development of the monastery, including improvements to spaces dedicated to worship and prayer.

Gardens and Outdoor Spaces

The grounds are gradually being improved with landscaping, gardens, walkways, and outdoor areas intended to offer peaceful places for prayer, reflection, and fellowship.

These improvements are part of our effort to create a monastery environment that is both simple and welcoming, allowing the natural beauty of the property to support silence, contemplation, and community life.

Guest Accommodations

Hospitality has long been an important part of monastic tradition.

Our monastery welcomes guests for approved visits, events, and stays when accommodations are available. We currently make use of guest and RV accommodations, including selected stays offered through Airbnb, which allow visitors to experience the peaceful atmosphere of the property while also helping support the daily needs and ongoing development of the monastery.

For information about staying with us, please visit our **Stay With Us** page or contact the monastery in advance.

A Monastery Still Growing

Our monastery continues to grow and develop according to the needs of the community and the opportunities God provides.

Current and long-term efforts include the care and beautification of the grounds, development of prayer gardens and gathering areas, improvement of hospitality spaces, and work toward facilities that can better support our life of prayer, formation, ministry, and service.

We rely greatly on Divine Providence and on the generosity of friends and benefactors who help us care for the property and continue this work.

Every improvement has the same purpose: to strengthen a home where the brothers can faithfully live their vocation and where others may find peace, prayer, and a warm welcome.
