Christ and the sacraments

CELEBRATE · GROW IN FAITH
Discover how Christ meets us through the worship and sacramental life of the Church.
A sacrament is an effective sign of God’s grace, instituted by Christ and celebrated by the Church. Grace is God’s free gift that helps us share in his life. The seven sacraments accompany important dimensions of Christian life.
They are Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. Each has its own place in the Church’s life and in the vocation of its members.
At Mass, we listen to God’s word and celebrate the Eucharist. Catholics believe that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist and that we are drawn into his saving sacrifice and communion with him. Reconciliation offers forgiveness and healing through confessing our sins, receiving absolution, and beginning again.
If you are new to Catholic worship or returning after time away, contact a parish for guidance about participation, receiving the sacraments, and preparation. You are welcome to begin by listening, learning, and asking questions.
Pause and reflect: How could worship become more closely connected with your everyday life?
The Eucharist and the prayer of the Church are central to Augustinian life. The Oblate path invites a deeper participation in that life according to one’s state in life.
